An incredible opportunity is available to join a growing PEO (Professional Employer Organization) based in Palm Harbor, FL.  We are currently seeking an experienced Controller to join our team.

About the Role

The Controller is responsible for preparing month-end closings, financial forecasts, payroll tax filings, and providing financial advice to the company through the study of financial data. This position is expected to meet reporting and licensing deadlines. What You Will Do:
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, and Revenue Recognition
  • Execute month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for multiple constituents
  • Prepare, review and file payroll taxes for VestedHR and its clients
  • Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions
  • Prepare forecasts of the income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows for the company
  • Provide proactive/unsolicited consultation, interpretation, and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations, and lead the development of complex analysis
  • Monitor and implement financial and operational internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets and identify risks
  • Ensure proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as local and state statutory requirements
  • Prepare and coordinate information for audits and quarterly agreed-upon procedures for ESAC accreditation
What You Should Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
  • Experience in payroll, payroll taxes, and/or PEO organizations is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Demonstrated expertise in MS Office and Accounting software (Sage Intacct a plus)
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively build relationships to communicate with management, staff, vendors, and other organizations
  • Good time management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Experience in handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries from the business.
  • May be asked to travel for site-specific events

We are seeking an experienced payroll professional with a positive attitude. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to grow a with dynamic payroll team that is committed to making customers feel extraordinary. On a daily basis, you will get the chance to assist to customers while processing payroll, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring accurate and timely processing. A keen attention to detail and organization with award-winning customer service is a must.

A Day in the Life

  • Handle payroll department operations, including collecting and verifying timekeeping information and processing payroll
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including payroll garnishments
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Work directly with clients to resolve payroll issues or concerns
  • Perform wage verifications and provide employee self-service assistance
  • Report to department supervisor regarding activities and issues
  • Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations by keeping all private information confidential
  • Occasionally develop financial and operational reports by compiling summary data of earnings, state and federal taxes, deductions, PTO, disability, etc.
  • Develop a connection with customers and keep yourself informed of the customer’s business and what we can do to help them meet their business goals
  • Additional duties as requested

About You

  • Friendly person who loves customers and takes pride in everything you do
  • Two years’ experience processing payroll or in a payroll department
  • Multi-state payroll processing will set you apart!
  • Two years’ experience delivering exceptional customer service
  • Commitment to payroll best practices and regulations
  • Familiarity with payroll software
  • Experience working with Prism payroll software is a huge advantage
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Meticulous when it comes to attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organizational capabilities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Eager to take on challenges and partner with team members
  • Maintain confidentiality with customer and employee data
  • Familiarity with MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for the majority of the day, and occasionally lift 10 – 20 pounds
