What is ESAC Accreditation? 


The Employer Services Assurance Corporation (ESAC) is a non-profit organization established in 1995 to promote and improve the quality of service and professional development of PEOs. The company works with a network of approximately 100 companies and has over 4000 employers as members.  


This is important because it means that the PEOs are held to a higher standard when it comes to quality and services. To be a member, each PEO company must undergo an extensive audit of its operations. 


  • Only about 5% of PEOs in the U.S. have been accredited by ESAC.

Why Does ESAC Matter to Me, a Business Owner? 


When business owners of any size look for a PEO, they are entrusting an outside organization with the private data and legal matters of their employees. It goes without saying that they should want the potential PEO they hire to be held to the utmost standard.  


But how do you prove that? By working with an ESAC Certified PEO, you know that your employee’s personal information is in good hands and that you won’t have to worry about being compliant with employment laws. 


Is ESAC Accreditation Required for PEOs in Florida? 


Despite our belief that you should only work with an ESAC-accredited PEO, this validation is NOT required in our industry at all. In fact, many PEOs outright avoid ESAC, as it is a very expensive path that includes audits of records, tax payments, and fiscal responsibility.  


It should make you wonder though, what’s stopping the PEO company from getting this? Is it worth the risk to work with a non-accredited company? 


Only about 5% of PEOs in the U.S. have been accredited by ESAC. 


According to the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO), there are currently between 780 and 980 PEOs operating in the United States; and only about 5% have been accredited by ESAC.
